Getting off My A$$

So my best pal Hamish (funny how three years away and he still holds the title of best friend... don't tell Heipel, ah who am I kidding, Heipel wouldn't give a shit).. anyway so Hamish's blog is a great read. it's essentially the story of his life as a telecommuting writer in scotland. go read it if you like. the point of bringing it up here is to say that i've been reading as Hamish has decided to self-publish his first full-length novel. It hasn't found a publisher (rather it's found them, but not managed to establish permanent residence). his passion and 'oh-fuck-it-ness' just inspire me to get up off my own ass and get something done regarding my own writing.

right now i'm actually feeling really good about my work. the business seems to be doing well and is on it's way to doing even better. that was the reason that i stopped writing anything else nearly two years ago now, i wanted to concentrate on one creative endeavour at a time, that endeavour being the creation of a business. well now the wee toddler is in pre-school and it's time to get my ass in gear and get something done.

the last thing i did was a novella for the "three day novel writing competition" (I didn't win). novellas dont' get published, so i figured that i'll re-write it as a full length book. hey it's gotta be easier i've already got 24,000 words. I'll get the first chapter out in september, and then set up a reasonable schedule after that. I'll be enlisting readers soon, so if you wanna read, let me know. The book is called Butterfly. It's the story of a man who works at an ad agency (ahem) and one day begins to exhibit strange behaviour. is he going crazy? is he undergoing a life change? hang on for the funny heart-wrenching ride and find out (see i have no fucking problem writing the jacket copy !!!).
